Furnace Ceramics was founded by three siblings who grew up in their dad's tile factory. We spent weekends and school holidays applying transfers on tile one by one, helping in the mosaics room, and putting away geometric patterns in the showroom.Â
We all went on to work in the business, and saw the same gap over and over: designers and architects wanting bespoke tile, made difficult in a market where most retailers sold the same tiles sourced from overseas, with little room to customise.
So we built something different. Wall tiles glazed to order in any colour, with matching curved tiles for every edge and corner. The ability to replicate an embossed, tubelined or screenprinted ceramic tile you found on Pinterest. Your dream mosaic pattern or lettered design hand assembled from vitrified porcelain tile made by a fifth-generation family business in France since 1894.
All designed by you and made by us in Sydney's inner west, using the same staff and machinery that have made tiles here for decades.
